At the funeral, at Old Klang Road, there were a huge variety of people, from ordinary workers, labourers, to ministers and member of parliaments. There were those from the Government as well as those from the Opposition. Both factions of the Trade Unions Movement were present and many other people. All of them came to pay tribute to this man which in some way have touched their hearts. V.David was the man in the coffin.
One veteran trade unionist said, ì perhaps this is the last funeral of its kind which can draw such a diverse group of peopleî. Yes, except for the last few years of his life, where he suffered a stroke, V.David lived a life meaningful and eventful.
V.David died in the age of 73 at the Assunta Hospital. His coffin was wrapped with a MTUC flag while DAP flags let the way to his house. These are the symbols, which many people are familiar today. Ö..But V.David leaves behind a significant past, a past of glorious and significant struggle, a struggle which people in the left would always remember and cherish.
